Guest Profile: Dr. Pascaline Clerc

Senior Director of Animal Research Issues at The Humane Society of the U.S., Dr. Clerc is also the Director of the "Be Cruelty-Free" campaign aiming to eventually end amimal testing of cosmetics in the United States.

Dr. Clerc obtained her MS in Biochemistry and PhD in Cellular Biology from the University of Grenoble, France, studying the bioenergetics of hepatic cells ans mechanism of death. She did a fellowship of three years at NIH investigating pathways leading to cell death before joining the University of Maryland in Baltimore as a post-doctorate fellow, where she studied brain metabolismafter traumatic brain injury. During her time at the University of Maryland, Dr. Clerc asapted a technology used to measure oxygen consumption from neutrons, to in-vitro studies.
