Guest Profile: Nancy Anderson

Nancy Anderson is a career and life consultant based in the San Francisco Bay Area and the author of the best selling career guide, Work with Passion, How To Do What You Love For a Living (New World Library, 1984, 20th anniversary edition, 2004). She was a Regents Scholar at the University of California, Riverside where she graduated magna cum laude with an interdisciplinary degree in English and Political Science. Following graduation in 1976, Nancy co-founded two career consulting firms in San Francisco, and then her own practice in 1981. Over the next few years she wrote her ground-breaking book, Work with Passion, based on her own and her clients’ experiences. In the years following publication, Nancy continued to refine the intuitive, practical approach that helps her clients to create the life they were born to live. The first step is to streamline the life, getting rid of distractions like clutter, outmoded possessions, unhealthy habits, and spending time with people who drain energy, including some family members. Once distractions are out of the way, and this will take a while, the next step is to write an in-depth autobiography that begins with the grandparents and parents' beliefs about money, work and relationships and ends with a summary of the current life. Taking time to review the past reveals the choices that always end in failure, as well as the choices that cause positive growth and change. Repeating these choices leads to the niche in work where clients will reach their full potential and make the money they need.
